Are You Living Someone Else's Life Script

Summary

What if the life you’re building isn’t actually yours? After my father died, I realized I was living someone else’s script and started questioning everything.

The story

What if the life you’re building right now isn’t actually yours?

I spent years thinking I was doing everything right – good job, stable home, checking all the boxes. But when my father died, something cracked open. I realized I was living on autopilot, following a script someone else had written.

That’s when I started asking harder questions. Who told me what success looks like? Which beliefs did I inherit without questioning? What would I do differently if I stopped caring what everyone expected?

Here’s what I learned writing Legacy Found: transformation doesn’t happen in one big moment. It happens in the quiet space between who you think you should be and who you actually want to become.

Most of us avoid that space. It’s uncomfortable. It means admitting we’ve been wrong about things. It means unlearning what we thought was true and being humble enough to start over.

But that’s exactly where growth lives.

I had a mentor who pushed me to question everything – my assumptions, my excuses, my comfort zones. He didn’t give me answers. He taught me how to find my own. That relationship changed everything because it forced me to take ownership of my choices instead of blaming circumstances.

Your legacy isn’t what you leave behind when you die. It’s what you’re building right now, today, in the small decisions nobody sees.

The real question isn’t whether you’ll transform. It’s whether you’ll do it intentionally or let life do it for you.

So I’ll ask again: whose life are you living?
