Summary

A failed father discovers his family’s forgotten stories after his dad dies. Following my research into history, I wrote a novel showing how our ancestors’ experiences can guide our own lives.

The story

I used to see history as boring facts and dates. Then I wrote “Legacy Found.”

The story follows Julius – a guy in 2014 who’s failed as a husband and father. His dad’s death and a weird dream start a journey that oddly mirrored my own questions about what I’ll leave behind.

We all hit points where we need guidance. Julius finds Mitchell, a mentor who shows up at the perfect time. For me, it was diving into historical research that became the foundation for this story.

Julius discovers a book containing his family’s legacy – tales spanning generations. Through these stories, he realizes how empty his own life had become.

Before writing this novel, I viewed history as disconnected from today. After finishing it, I understood that our ancestors’ experiences – how they maintained love through hardships – offer us a map for our own lives.

That’s what “Legacy Found” became: not just historical fiction, but a bridge connecting past to present. It’s about realizing that transformation often starts by looking backward before moving forward.

Sometimes the mentor we need most has been waiting in the stories of those who came before us.
